Former NIRVANA Bassist Defends DAVE GROHL

November 18, 2011

According to The Pulse Of Radio. former NIRVANA bassist Krist Novoselic posted a series of tweets this week in which he defended FOO FIGHTERS frontman and ex-NIRVANA drummer Dave Grohl after Courtney Love blasted Grohl onstage at a festival in Brazil last weekend. Love went off after spotting a fan at the show waving a photo of her late husband, NIRVANA's Kurt Cobain, launching a tirade in which she essentially insinuated that Grohl was getting a share of NIRVANA royalties that he was not entitled to.

Novoselic waded in on Wednesday (November 16),saying in one tweet, "Q: Why do Foo Fighters pack arenas? A: Because they ROCK!!!!!!!" He followed up with another tweet, saying, "David Eric Grohl = Talent + Focus + Hard Work #Ilove you."

Novoselic told The Pulse Of Radio a while back that he's got a philosophical perspective on who ultimately "owns" NIRVANA's music. "In a hundred years, I don't know who is going to own NIRVANA. I'm not going to own it. I'll be dead and gone. You know what I mean? But I was part of it, and I'm proud of it. That's all I can really say."

Novoselic and Grohl have remained friends ever since Cobain's death ended NIRVANA in 1994, and Novoselic makes a guest appearance on the latest FOO FIGHTERS album, "Wasting Light".

Several years ago, the pair battled with Love over control of the marketing of NIRVANA's catalog. Their differences were eventually settled.

Grohl and FOO FIGHTERS just completed a North American tour in support of "Wasting Light" and heads to Australia later this month.

Courtney Love defended her onstage rant against Grohl in an interview with a Brazilian news network, saying that she and her estranged daughter, Frances Bean Cobain, "own" NIRVANA, adding, "Dave makes $5 million a show, he doesn't need the money . . . It pisses me off that my mother-in-law doesn't have a front door in the winter, okay? Her boiler doesn't work, and Dave bought an Aston Martin last week."
